Bypass vs Anvil - What's Best?

At first glance it may be hard to notice the difference between bypass and anvil secateurs, but once you start pruning it quickly becomes obvious.

Bypass blades do just that, bypass, or slide past each other, creating a clean cut ideal for living branches or stems. Use sharp bypass secateurs or loppers to cut back overgrown, healthy plants to ensure continued growth.

Anvil blades on the other hand, will help you tackle those stiff, dead branches as one sharp blade chops against a plate. Anvil secateurs are the ideal tool for chopping dead shoots and branches with one hand. Start looking at a lopper if your secateurs are struggling to get through thicker branches, using two hands to cut through larger brush is the safest way to get the job done quickly without compromising your body or your tools.

Pruning with the right tool can make all the difference in enjoying your time in the garden and avoid unnecessary fights with unruly branches!
